NURSE
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the state of MO. (RN) preferably have a BSN degree.
- At least two years experience.
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate.
JOB GOAL: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well being in district schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in developing the school health program.
- Participates in the work of health curriculum.
- Conducts student assessments, which include height/weight, vision, hearing, blood pressure, dental, scoliosis screening, etc.
- Referrals and follow-up counseling to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters as they occur.
- Maintains current immunization records on each student as required by Missouri Law.
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
- Visits student homes when necessary.
- Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
- Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures to students and staff.
- Implements Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
- Participates in in-service training programs.
- Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
- Prepares and submits reports for the superintendent and the State Board of Health.
- Responsible for other duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month contract with salary to be determined by the BOE.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated the Principals and reviewed by the Superintendent in accordance with the policies of the BOE.
